Homemade Coin Jewelry- Awesome!
Stumbled across this guy's website where he shows how to hammer rings out of coins using common tools. He makes a ring out of a '64 Kennedy and shows them made out of a silver Washington as well.
I think the hammered look is really badass, and plan to make one as soon as I have the time. He also makes some cool stuff with silver on the other pages. http://homepage.mac.com/johnhuber/Co...toAlbum20.html Anyone else make coin jewelry or have pictures of some they own? I'd love to see it. |

I made a bic lighter holder out of a silver spoon , came out nice, I stumble across it in a drawer every now and then.
I mmight make a couple of those rings. Thanks. |
Re: Homemade Coin Jewelry- Awesome!
Isn't that illegal under current laws? Destroying or melting down coins, not that I care a lot about the current bunch of stupid laws our congress-critters crank out!

I am not quite sure I could bring myself to destroying for 90% quarter or half. They just sound so good as a coin!:D

Got tons of 64 Kennedys though, so I'll probably use one of those first then make my final product out of a common walker half or even a benjy half. |

Can't you do whatever you want to the silver coins? There used to be a law saying you could not melt them but Im pretty sure they got rid of it (hence many junk silver coins being melted in the 80's when silver was high). You can't melt nickels or pennies though. I could be wrong but this is my understanding of it. |
